Civic Amenity & Waste Transfer Facility

What is it?

This is to be a municipal waste centre where the public can bring waste for safe disposal or recycling. While waste will be segregated into various streams, no further processing will be done on site.

Some materials would be accepted without charge. These include glass, paper & cardboard, plastic bottles and packaging, cans, textiles, polystyrene, and WEE (White Goods, Electrical, Electronic).  A charge would be levied for others such as garden green waste, bulky and construction waste, household hazardous waste (paints, medicines, batteries, waste oils, fluorescent tubes etc), metals, and residual household waste.

For further details see the Part 8 Planning Report: For the provision of a Civic Amenity & Waste Transfer Facility at Celbridge, Co. Kildare.

Where is it?

The centre is to be placed north of the R449, the road linking Junction 6 with what is referred to as the Applegreen roundabout.  KCC currently use the site as the local annual collection point for Christmas trees.
